Last week while I was down in Los Angeles I was able to visit Windset Farms’ huge greenhouse in Santa Maria, CA — about 3 hours north of LA. I worked on this project over a span of almost 2 years, working on the interior design treatments for their office area, as well as the wayfinding and signage for both the interior and exterior.
UPDATE: You can see the full portfolio post up on my website now.
It was impressive to see the 3 million square feet of greenhouses in person. Up on the third floor viewing platform you’ll see greenhouse glass for as far as you can see in 3 directions. When you enter the greenhouse itself, you can barely make out where each greenhouse ends.
I’m really impressed with how everything turned out, considering that there was nothing more than floorplans and a few photos of the building under construction to work with. Working on projects of this size where you don’t get to visit the location yourself, and working with contractors on the ground thousands of kilometres away is a little daunting.
Some of the work was done here in Vancouver and shipped down to California; the LED light panels were produced by Colorific (@colorificprint) and the custom made frames were done by Fine Art Framing and they both helped a ton, and did a kick ass job.
More photos and an expanded post to come later… (at Santa Maria, California)
